If money were not an issue, what would you do to make changes in the community to enforce better habbits for students? (What would you do to keep kids from drinking, using tobacco, and using drugs?) Go outside the box. Would you make a mall here, put up a rollercoaster, make a water park… what would you do to try to keep students from encountering in harmful substances? Be creative, remember money is not an issue!
If money were not an issue I would build a huge mall that has several brand name stores, like two food courts, three screen movie theatre, and an amusement park. Among the stores would be Aeropostle, Hot Topic, etc. Some of the places to eat that would not serve alcohol would be like Subway, sonic, etc. The movie theatre would have three movies going at the same time. the amusement park would contain three rollercoasters, water rides, and many others. Kids would want to be there all the time. The kids would not encounter any drugs or alcohol because it would be totally smoke-free and alcohol free.
I like this Abby! I would spend all my time at these places. Do you think, if money were not an issue, we would make everything affordable for students? I think it would be a good idea and maybe have some pledge that as long as you have good grades and stay substance free you would get a monthly discount from any store or park you want?!
Good job, Keep up the good ideas and thought.
Also, were you planning on coming to the winter banquet? I need an RSVP by today (Jan. 7th) I tried to call your phone number but it did not go through. Please let me know ASAP. 274.7784. Thanks Abby.
if money were not an issue i would build a theam park with all you can eat buffet because it would be open to the pubic but it would also be were kids would not encounter drugs or alcohol because it would not be aloud also their will be stores for teen girls and boys like football, basketball, track, swimming, and baseball. For girls it would be volleyball, basketball, track, swimming, and softball. Also their would be games going on at all time and all you pay is a small fee and you get a wriste band that said “i’m drug and alcohol free” and if you brought you report card you get to go into any store and choose one or two items and get the third item free and a for birthday a small party with no drugs or alcohol.
I would take a survey of everyone’s favorite things to do and build a huge indoor/outdoor facility. I would have it be free, and have the proper supervision. There would be movie theaters, video game station, basketball courts and other activities. The people who supervise would be great role models who whole heartedly believe that there is more for kids to do than drugs/alcohol. We would provide a fun environment w kids would have a safe environment to go where they could do fun things without having to worry about peer pressure.
It would also be fun to set up a place where kids could come and brainstorm different ideas. I believe everyone has their own talents and abilities, so we could have students come and show off their creative skills. Whether it was through music, art, writing…etc. We would provide them with all of the materials they would need to do so. Their imaginations could just run wild. Then we would find some way to show off their talents to the community and also a way to incorporate their talents into community service (somehow). This way, kids might become more involved if they feel they were the reason for the chance instead of doing community service like picking up trash etc. This place would not only function as a safe place, but also as a place for kids to have the chance to give back.
Kayleigh I won’t be able to attend the winter banquet because it so happens that the day of the winter banquet is my grandpa’s birthday and I can’t miss that. I hope to hear all about it though. Please let me know how the showing of the environmental scan goes. Sorry I can’t attend if i could I would. Talk to you later. By the way the reason you couldn’t get is because our computer connects to the internet on its own. So you don’t get a busy signal because it just rings and rings.
Abby
If money were not an issue I would create an indoor rec center for all students. I know we already have a Wellness Center…. But this would have more. There would be more gyms, Video Game Rooms (Physical Video Games like a Wii), Computers to blog on, and indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, skate park, ice rink…. EVERYTHING!!! There would be an indoor water park. There would be alcohol prevention messages before you could go into each area……. The food would SOMEHOW be related to anti-drugs…….Everyone who is drug free is invited!!
well i think a water park for the summer and a mall put in so you get two chioces and then u could still have fun but by not doing drugs.
I like that you are keeping everything active. With the Wii instead of sit down gaming. There is so much you can do if we did not have to worry about money!
Good job Brent.
Kayleigh
That is perfectly fine Abby. We will miss you but I hope Gpa has a great Birthday!
Kayleigh
I like the survey idea Sydney!
Lots of Creativity! It would be nice if money were no object to all this forth!
Kayleigh
I think that someone already suggested this… what else can you come up with!? I know you can get creative Laura!
Kayleigh
i would make a rollercoaster u could not get on till u answered a question about how drugs and/or alchole effect teenagers
That is a good idea Tad! I hope to hear more from you!
Kayleigh
i would have a mall that had everything in it!! Literally!!!!!!!!! of course, there would be a zip-line, rock-wall climbing, swimming, skiing, fun challenge couses, theme parks, skate parks, arcades, circuses(did i spell that right?), movie theateres, shopping(duh!), and more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think all those activities would keep peoples minds off of drugs, don’t you? it would be a super-mall!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ooh!! i like that idea!!!!!!!!!
That is a super idea! Of course there has to be shopping… one thing I think I would add is a spa! And a cheaper spa so students could afford it…. great ideas Maxi!
Kayleigh
I would have concerts with good rolemodels there. There would also be speakers. It would be fun.
If money wasn’t an issue I would make a roller coaster. Last summer I went to Disney World and rode the Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. It was my favorite ride. The speed of the coaster went from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. It also took us on a ride to Holleywood, which was neat. Our roller coaster wouldn’t have to be that big but I believe it should go upside down. I think if we had a roller coaster summer near kids would be very outgoing and daring. I would go and ride the roller coaster as much as possible. I think it would be a great way for out community kids to get out there but not be doing harmful acts.
Another thing I would event, would be a spy museum. Ever since I went to Washington D.C. in 8th grade I loved crawling through the ductwork and trying to be sneaky like a spy. I think all people would enjoy it because we could have lots of information facts about spy and the CIA. You also would become a spy once you come inside of the museum.
I feel we could use something in out town that was good but also a little crazy.
